" You are the same today as you 'll be in five years except for two things, the books you read and the people you meet ." Charlie Jones
95% of all adults do not read another book after they have left school. This is a major reason why only 5% of us ever reach a state of financial independence or any level of success to that fact. Take a look at the top 5% earners. They all keep learning and doing. They learn more things and they try more things. I guess its one of the `secrets` of success. There are so many amazing books out there from people who are willing to teach you how they became successful. Now doesn`t it make sense to invest in your future and take the advice, then put it into practice. Here, we have a list of fantastic life changing books that have impacted my life so much, along with millions of people world wide!

Losing my virginity
Richard Branson
|
The flamboyant Virgin entrepreneur from the
United kingdom shares some of his business
successes, world adventures, and personal
background in his bubbly autobiography. "Losing
My Virginity: How I've Survived, Had Fun, and
Made a Fortune Doing Business My Way" is a very
appropriate title as it is exactly what the book
is about.
Richard Branson keeps the book fast paced and
interesting from start to finish, just like his
life. Starting from his beginnings where he was
a dyslexic student starting his own student
magazine and a music mail order business,
through to his ballooning adventures and
sprawling global empire. Branson is humble
enough to poke fun at himself and talk about his
failures while being self confident enough to
take on some of the most challenging industries
in business.
While many business and finance biographies can
become dry and uninteresting, Branson keeps the
reader turning the pages like a novel. It's
littered with celebrities, near death
adventures, and multi-million dollar deals

Failing forward
John C Maxwell
|
This is an excellent book with some great insights on what it
means to fail and how we should respond to the inevitable failures
that will occur in our lives . This book
has been one of the best books, by Maxwell .
The basic thesis of the book is "the difference between average
people and achieving people is their perception of and response to
failure." This is so true. Failures come in all difference sizes,
shapes, time frames, pressures, strengths, and weights, but they do
come and how we respond either makes or breaks us. Everybody, at one
time or another faces failure or setbacks or loss and Maxwell
provides some great ideas and insights into how we can deal with these failures.
An interesting observation is made in this book - we are raised and
taught to deal with all kinds of things in life - finances,
business, investments, education, relations, etc., but we are not
trained or educated in how to handle failure. It is as if we all
think, perhaps subconsciously, that dealing with failure is an
innate trait. Unfortunately, its not an innate characteristic of
humanity to be able to 'deal' with failure.
This book is great for those who are in leadership positions in
churches, businesses, or also for "the average Joe" regardless of
his/her occupation. Maxwell has a way of writing that reaches the
masses. Anyone regardless of age, sex, occupation, etc. will benefit
from the truths and insights of this book. I highly recommend this
book!

What to say when you talk to yourself
Shad Helmstetter

|
This book is without a doubt the most life changing self help book I have ever read! It points out how many self help books teach the traits required for success however the traits are often short lived as they fail to reprogram and overide the old programming from the persistence of our subconscious mind. Unless you read and study self help everyday, we tend to revert back to our old programming. Shad Helmstetter teaches you the methods required to reprogram and overide the old negative programming. These have been accepted as `the norm` and have been instilled into our lives from a very early age. Think about this-
99.9% of our overall beliefs are formed by what we are saying to ourselves about ourselves. Even if we are calling someone else "an idiot" it's not really a reflection of the other person as much as it is a reflection of what we believe about ourselves. How many times do we make a mistake and then say " Oh you idiot! Why did you do that?" We have just sent an intense piece of programming to our sub conscious.
This book is a life changing insight and if put into practice will cause radical changes in your mental, financial and spiritual life.

See you at the top
Zig Ziglar
|
Another amazing book for anyone looking to progress their life. A book to keep for good!
The main focus of this book is to build ones self esteem, a major leadership
attribute in my opinion. The text is designed to take an individual through a
six step motivational process to succeed, better defined by Ziglar as the "Stairway to the Top". This Stairway process as defined in Chapter One is to
develop ones leadership in relation to a set of stairs or a staircase with
success being at the top. Thus each chapter of the book builds on, or is the
next step up. The following are the chapters or steps as outlined and discussed
by Ziglar.
Step 1: Your Self Image
Step 2: Your Relationship With Others.
Step 3: Your Goals
Step 4: Attitude
Step 5: Work
Step 6: Desire
The six step process is utilized to coincide with the foundation of character,
faith, integrity, love, and loyalty to help balance and understand the wants and
needs related to Health, Wealth, Happiness, Friends, Growth, Peace, Security,
Leisure, Freedom, and Opportunity.
I Believe You can get everything in life you want if you help enough other
people get what they want.

Seven spiritual laws of success
Deepak Chopra
|
In "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success", by Deepak Chopra, he
describes the fundamental principles of the universe and how we as
part of the universe can be successful. Throughout the book he has
to slow down and explain how he is using many of the words as we
usually give them different meaning. Then there are a few times that
he has to turn to Indian words instead of making up new ones. Many
say he is based in Ancient Vedic concepts yet if you did not know of
them you would realies these are concepts of the now.
He hits the deck running with this book so if you have not been
exposed to these concepts before you may need to re-read the book
several times. And this book was not meant to just be read, you need
to practice the concepts to understand them. This book is based on"Creating Affluence" and does not have the size to contain a lot of
background reasoning for drawing conclusions. Your practice of the
laws will do that for you.
The concepts are too simple to give the titles any meaning however
here they are.
1. The Law of Pure -
The source of all creation is pure consciousness...
2. The Law of Giving-
The universe operates through dynamic exchange...
3. The Law of "Karma" or Cause and Effect-
Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in like
kind...
4. The Law of Least Effort-
Nature's intelligence functions with effortless ease...
5. The Law of Intention and Desire-
Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its
fulfillment...
6. The law of Detachment-
In detachment lies the wisdom of uncertainty...
7. The law of "Dharma" or Purpose in life-
Everyone has a purpose in life...

Taken on trust
Terry Waite
|
Wow- What can you say about this man.I was fortunate to see him speak at a business seminar in 1996 and i was so inspired by his amazing story. You cannot contemplate the strength and courage this man had to dig up to overcome the months upon months he spent in solitary confinement in the dark without seeing a sole during his long time in captivity."Terry Waite's biography demonstrates the sheer strength of the human
spirit and provides an uplifting account of his survival of the
years of hardship. Few could have survived such an ordeal without
losing hope and it offers some remarkable insights into the man's strength of character."
Terry tells of his humour and faith that got him through such an ordeal. I challenge you to feel sorry for yourself and your current situation after reading this book. It gave me a major turning pint in my life and a whole new perspective that i will always carry with me. If you want true inspiration then-

Anyone can do it
Duncan Bannatyne

|
At 30, Duncan Bannatyne had no money and was enjoying life on the beaches of
Jersey. He saw a story of someone who had made himself a millionaire, and
decided to do the same himself. Five years later he had done it, and now he is
worth 168 million. In this remarkable book, Bannatyne relives his colourful path
to riches, explaining how anyone could take the same route as he did - if they
really want to. In the book, we see how he started out as an ice cream salesman,
and built up that business, before moving on to other areas. Hugely articulate,
and with numerous fascinating and revealing stories to tell, this is an
autobiography and a business book unlike any other - but then Bannatyne isn't
like any other businessman, either. |

Og Mandino

|
Og Mandino recounts his descent into despair and his discovery of spiritual nourishment in the works of Aristotle, Emerson, Ben Franklin, and Plato, and enumerates the seventeen rules that helped transform his life.
Using an invitation into his study, Mr. Mandino answers who he is, not just what he writes about. When you begin your literary "Og" journey with books such as THE GREATEST SALESMAN and THE GREATEST SECRET, it's easy to think that only sales professionals will glean the most from a Mandino book. Not so, this one! A BETTER WAY TO LIVE is exactly that - a better way to live. Here Mr. Mandino is generous enough to provide 17 Rules to Live By. Og is a tremendous writer and public speaker who has raised my aspirations.
This book is an inspiration and a must read!
